“Extraction” is the standard approach and terminology for CBD production, however, LipidBond is more than extraction. We refer to it as “full-plant fusion,” a phrase coined to describe a method completely new to the industry. Rather than extracting or isolating key cannabinoids such as CBD (cannabidiol) from the hemp plant only to infuse or mix them into a carrier oil, LipidBond uses water, heat, and pressure to bond beneficial components with oil at the molecular level, all in a single step. The result is that no natural elements are lost or modified in the process; the benefits of the full plant remain intact.

With a reverence for nature, Halcyon Technology Holdings developed LipidBond™ to transform the cannabis industry. This extraction process produces pure, full-spectrum CBD oil. It preserves all the minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and chlorophyll. This means the consumer gets maximum benefit.
Cannabinoids are simply the compounds in the cannabis plant. CBD is the most well-known cannabinoid, but when singled out as CBD isolate the product is missing out on over a hundred additional beneficial cannabinoids that are present in the plant.
A terpene is the fragrant part of hemp flower. Terpenes can provide mental relaxation, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain. There are 200 terpenes in the cannabis plant, and when they aren’t preserved, the consumer is missing out.
When a person consumes all of these components from a CBD oil, they’re able to experience the entourage effect. Simply put, the entourage effect is when all the components of a cannabis plant are working together. People experience more benefits when the components are together than when they are isolated. This is why LipidBond is beyond full-spectrum.
Becoming the New Standard
The patented LipidBond technology is the only scalable, lossless, all-natural cannabinoid fusion process on the market today. Currently, the two most common approaches to CBD production are solvent-based and CO2 extraction. There are major issues of cost, safety, scalability, as well as product quality, and purity associated with these standard methods.
Solvent extraction uses harsh chemicals such as butane or ethanol which must be removed from the extracted CBD, a rigorous and inefficient step. These solvents only extract a few cannabinoids such as CBD into an isolate while the rest of the plants beneficial compounds are destroyed. Furthermore, traces of these solvents can never be fully removed from the end-product, which has implications for purity and can raise health concerns for the consumer. Ethanol or butane extraction require extensive SOPs and certifications as well as facility requirements like fire suppression systems, blast-proof walls, ventilation hoods and more, adding up to much higher operation costs.
CO2 extraction while generally accepted as better than solvent extraction, requires very expensive equipment which takes up a lot of room, and commands a large time and personnel commitment. While the CO2 process can create a broad-spectrum or full-spectrum product, the supercritical temperatures required for extraction will always damage some of the beneficial compounds that naturally occur in hemp flower. In addition, CO2 creates a thick concentrate that must be heated and mixed into a carrier oil such as MCT Fractionated Coconut oil or Hemp Seed oil. This adds labor and another step to the CO2 extraction process.
In contrast, the LipidBond process is faster, greener, and requires fewer people with minimal learning curve to run the system. It results in higher output and is able to produce large volumes on demand. LipidBond’s lower energy usage, carbon footprint and waste output ensure lower upfront and operating costs.
The LipidBond™ technology can bond any botanical with any lipid, presenting vast opportunities for not only the cannabis industry, but other verticals such as bonded culinary oils, nutriceuticals, cosmetics, and even pharmaceuticals including psilocybin research.
